fantastic idea - my child is in Y1 and struggles with spelling test. this really helped him and more importantly, he enjoys using the flip book. the spell book is made of a sturdy shiny cardboard paper. pages with letters are also made of good quality shiny cardboard. consonants are printed in black, vowels in gray. on the front page there's the alphabet with the separate top row for vowels - which is very helpful when i try to prompt my child to find a missing vowel in a word. this book is also very good learning tool for the alphabet (and a dictionary in a future), as with each letter there's a little alphabet at the bottom of it - a child has to go through letters each time they want to find the right one to spell the word. fantastic visual product to learn word families - eg. -at, a child can see how changing one letter at the beginning changes the meaning of the word - c-at, m-at, s-at, ect. the only limitation of the book is the number of letters - there's only 8 so only 8 letter words can be made.
